FAQS

I'm not sure which pole work class would be best for me. What is the difference between the PoleKittens classes and the four-week series?
Before you decide on which class you're going to take, consider your personal goals. What do you want to achieve at PoleKittens? If you want to break up the monotony of your workout routine or simply need motivation to get off the couch, the PoleKittens class is the right choice for you. Created with fitness as its focal point, this class was designed to be a weekly exercise program in which students tone their physiques and build upper-body strength. Although classes are fun and conducted in a relaxed setting, emphasis is put on attaining personal fitness goals and noticing individual improvement. The moves and movements taught here are beautiful, but athletic and become more challenging as students gain experience. The PoleKittens class consists of no more than four students and is divided into beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels; however, students move at their own paces when it comes to graduating from one level to the next. Because students are in control of their own scheduling and progression, payments for the PoleKittens class is made prior to each session.

If you want to give your special someone a gift he'll never forget or just want to channel the sexy dancer deep inside of you, the four-week series is the right choice for you. With a concentration on sensual dance, these courses were designed to help students become uninhibited and release their inner-dancers. The four-week series consists of three weekly, regularly scheduled classes with no more than six students per class. In the fourth and final week of the series, students dress up accordingly, think heels and a feather boa, to perform the choreographed routine they have learned, which includes enticing floor work and seductive pole moves. Because students must adequately complete level one of the series in order to graduate to the next level, this routine is somewhat like a final exam. The four-week series classes must be paid for in full at the beginning of the series.

Why do I have to take the PoleKittens Primer class?
Before beginning any class that requires pole work, it is important that students learn correct body alignment and hand positioning for both pole safety purposes and the appropriate execution of pole movements. Technique, safety, and basic pole moves are taught in the PoleKittens Primer class to provide an introductory foundation for novice students. Equally important is that the primer class is the first "pole experience" for all of the students there for everyone is a "rookie." By participating in a class where pole fitness is a new experience for all present, primer students will not feel anxious or rushed as they would in a class with more experienced peers, and all primer students can benefit if an instructor needs to demonstrate a movement several times.

My schedule does not allow me to take the PoleKittens primer class. What should I do?
The PoleKittens Primer class is required for student participation in the PoleKittens and KittenHeels classes. However, you have two options if you cannot take the primer class at its regularly scheduled time:

1. Make arrangements for a private PoleKittens session.

2. If you have three friends, co-workers, and/or family members who want to start taking pole fitness classes with you, your collective group may enroll for all four slots of a Beginner PoleKittens class that fits better into your schedule.

How many classes will I have to take to become advanced? How do I progress from one level to the next?
The pole skills taught in the Beginner PoleKittens classes are designed to develop the strength needed to safely and competently perform the more difficult movements of the Intermediate PoleKittens classes. Students will find that they develop this strength at different paces according to their individual body types and fitness levels. Thus, there is no set time period for level advancement; it is student-based. Generally speaking, once a student demonstrates that she can capably pick up and support her own body weight without straining, she is ready for intermediate-level training. Intermediate PoleKittens classes entail press-away and corkscrew spins, standing perches, and inversion on the pole.

A student's graduation to advanced level classes is at the discretion of AlphaKittens instructors.

What should I wear to my class?

There are different shoe and clothing requirements for each of the Kittens classes and the Booty Camp, so check the description for the specific class in which you have enrolled before coming. Nevertheless, wearing rings, bracelets, and watches is prohibited for students in all of the PoleKittens and KittenHeels classes because this jewelry damages the poles. Also, it is advised that students who will be using the poles do not apply lotion the day of their sessions. It is very strongly advised that students do not apply lotion in the time period near to or just before the commencement of their classes. Lotion makes certain pole moves difficult to execute properly and, most importantly, can make the poles slippery and unsafe for use.

How do the punch cards work?
Students can purchase all Kittens classes and the Booty Camp in single sessions or in discounted packages of 4, 5, and 10 sessions. When classes are purchased in multiple sessions, students receive a virtual punch card. This virtual punch card is "punched" after each attended class. Once a student has used up all the sessions that she purchased and depleted her virtual punch card, she will need to purchase additional classes or another package of sessions. Punch cards are not applicable for the four-week series
